To compare social science degree programs, read the required work. A degree title alone won't tell you how much fieldwork, research training, or specialization a school expects. The examples here link directly to each school's own degree page.

These are differences you can verify in the schools' published requirements. Check the concentration and course list before you assume a feature applies to every student in a major.
Oregon State's archaeology specialization requires 12 credits of site-based field school experience. Colorado State says its in-person field school is optional for graduation. If you want to study archaeology online, that distinction affects the work you'll have to arrange in person.
UCF's social sciences BS requires three social-science minors, statistics, and methodology. Penn State's integrated social sciences BS ends with a capstone portfolio. Read the full course maps to see how each school organizes your work across disciplines.

IPEDS records show the scale of each six-digit program category by field and award level. They don't describe the courses a specific school requires. Use the official examples above for that.
