Psychology BA
Three foundation courses open the psychology BA at Orono: General Psychology, a four-credit statistics course and a four-credit course on the principles of psychological research. Each needs a grade of C- or higher, because statistics unlocks research principles and research principles unlocks every 300 and 400-level course. After the core areas of abnormal, social, cognitive and biological psychology plus a lifespan course, you pick nine more credits and one introductory science course. A capstone, which can be an honors thesis, closes the degree. The department also runs an on-campus psychological services clinic and works with local schools and medical centers, which gives research a setting beyond the lab.

Psychology BA
You can point UNE's psychology BA toward a goal by adding a minor, such as mental health rehabilitation, art therapy, education or business. The required courses cover abnormal psychology, statistics, lifespan development, social psychology, research methods, biological bases of behavior, a learning or memory course and a special topics seminar. Research Methods includes at least one research project, and faculty-led labs let you go deeper. You complete at least one internship in junior or senior year, placed with help from the internship coordinator, and four electives can come from psychology, neuroscience or animal behavior.

Psychology BA
The plan at Southern Maine is to finish Introduction to Psychology by the end of sophomore year and the experimental methodology course with its lab by the end of junior year. Along with statistics, those courses lead into lifespan, social, abnormal, personality, learning, cognitive and physiological psychology. A capstone, either cross-cultural psychology or psychology in the public interest, sits among four upper-level electives. Juniors and seniors can add a research apprenticeship, a teaching apprenticeship or an internship by faculty permission. The emphasis is scientific inquiry rather than clinical skills, and the major qualifies for an accelerated graduate pathway to the University of Maine School of Law.

Psychology BA
If you want to work in mental health right after graduation, Farmington's psychology BA lets you add coursework toward Maine's MHRT/C credential, which supports jobs such as crisis worker, case manager and community support specialist. The 42-credit major runs through a professional seminar, research methods, a research laboratory and a senior seminar, plus a statistics course. Twenty-seven elective credits let you shape the rest, with nine or more credits in upper-division courses. Pairing the major with a minor in rehabilitation, child and adolescent health, health promotion or biology is encouraged, and faculty mentorship can lead to conference presentations.

Psychology BA
You can earn UMPI's psychology BA on campus, online or by mixing both, and the competency-based YourPace route is fully online. Every major shares a 15-credit core: general psychology, lifespan development, research methods, psychobiology and probability and statistics. After that you choose a concentration: general (ten more courses, including one advanced course), business psychology with management and human resources courses, or biopsychology with biology, neurobiology and chemistry. Electives include counseling principles and a community behavioral health internship of six, nine or twelve credits. A practicum in applied behavior analysis can prepare you to sit for the Registered Behavior Technician certificate.

Psychology BS
Mental health and human services work is the target of this BS in Psychology. Professional courses include research methods, a seminar in psychology, trauma and resiliency, cultural competency and a six-credit field placement. You can also fold in the Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician courses, and graduates who meet Maine's requirements may apply for the MHRT/C credential for entry-level case management. Two dual-degree routes let seniors with a 3.2 GPA start graduate counseling courses, in clinical mental health counseling or school counseling. The degree is offered on campus and online, and you need a 2.5 GPA overall and in psychology courses.

Psychology BA
Two optional concentrations, Clinical/Counseling and Forensic Psychology, let you point the BA toward mental health, human services or the justice system, and the major is built on the APA's guidelines for undergraduate psychology. Everyone studies learning, cognition, personality, social processes and human development, learns research methods, and completes an individual senior research project with one-on-one mentoring. Internships have been at places like the Center for Grieving Children, Sweetser, Windham Primary School and Spring Harbor Hospital. Double majors in criminal justice or social work are encouraged. Recent graduates have gone on to master's and doctoral programs at UConn, Tufts, the University of Vermont and others.
