Georgia’s psychology BS separates research design from research analysis in a seven-credit methods sequence. Students then take biological psychology courses, social or applied courses, and an advanced laboratory or seminar. Options range from cognitive neuroscience to workplace psychology and psychological testing. Faculty-supervised research is available through departmental courses and the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities, giving students a way to practice investigation beyond the required classroom sequence.

Psychology BA and BS
Choose between a 12-course, 39-hour BA and a 16-course, 51-hour BS at Emory; each includes eleven courses from or cross-listed with the department plus QTM 100. The BS adds quantitative or methodological coursework and related natural science, so it suits students aiming at labs with advanced analysis or at health-related graduate programs. The BA leaves more room to connect psychology to business, policy or health care. Every course must be taken for a letter grade. Honors requires a 3.7 GPA overall and in the major plus PSYC 200W, then an independent senior research project, and joint majors with linguistics are available.

Psychological Science BS
A laboratory-based, two-semester research sequence, Research Methods in Psych followed by Statistical Applications in Psych, is the backbone of the Kennesaw psychological science BS, and the degree also requires Advanced Lab in Psychology. Introductory Psychology and Careers in Psychology come early, courses from the primary areas of the discipline follow, and a senior capstone closes the degree. Majors can choose a Statistics Pathway, taking Elementary Statistics and Introduction to Data Science in the general education core, which adds data skills for anyone eyeing graduate school. Honors students can join the University Honors Program or complete Honors in the Major.

Psychology BA
A defined methods track runs through the Spelman psychology major: Introduction to Psychological Sciences I and II with labs, Statistics in Psychology and Research Methods, each with a lab. You then choose Data Science in Psychology, Statistics II or Theory of Psychometric Instruments, and finish with a Capstone Portfolio. The department wants graduates to know theories related to the African American experience and the experience of women. Two concentrations shape the rest: Mental Health, a field-intensive sequence with early internship and practicum placements, and Neuroscience, which spans psychology, neurobiology, chemistry, genetics and mathematics.

Master of Science in Psychology, Experimental Psychology
Georgia Southern's 36-credit experimental psychology concentration requires an original research study, a written thesis, and an oral defense. Statistics and research design support that project, while core courses address physiological, cognitive, social, and developmental psychology. Students interested in classroom teaching can add an optional teaching emphasis with a teaching psychology course and faculty mentoring. The program meets in person in Statesboro, and applicants identify three potential faculty research mentors.

2 schools in Georgia awarded research doctorates in psychology in 2023–24. Doctoral scores leave out tuition because funding offers, not sticker price, decide the real cost. This section shows the top 2 of 2 eligible programs at this level.
Psychology PhD
Four concentrations sit inside Emory's Psychology PhD, part of the Laney Graduate School: behavioral and systems neuroscience, clinical science, cognitive and computational sciences, and developmental science. The clinical science concentration is accredited as a doctoral training program in clinical psychology, and choosing it only as a secondary concentration does not make you eligible for the clinical training program or for licensure. You usually enter as a member of a specific professor's research group and rank up to three faculty mentors in your application, and you can change mentors later if another professor agrees. There is no terminal master's degree, admission is for fall only, and the deadline is December 1.

Psychology PhD
Every doctoral student at Georgia State completes core courses, a general exam, a master's thesis project, a dissertation project and training specific to a concentration. The concentrations include clinical psychology, clinical-community, community, cognitive sciences and developmental, with a neuropsychology and cognitive neuroscience area alongside them. The clinical program follows the scientist-practitioner model, is APA accredited and is designed to prepare students for licensure eligibility. Community students complete at least three semester-long practica, and a dual MPH and PhD is offered with the School of Public Health. Cognitive sciences research uses EEG, MRI and fMRI, TMS, eye-tracking and testing with children, adults and non-human primates.

Transfer into a bachelor's degree is the point of Georgia Military College's psychology program, offered as an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science. Both versions share one concentration: Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods for the Behavioral Sciences, any two other psychology courses and one more course from fields like history, sociology, biology or a foreign language. The AA carries 70 to 73 quarter hours of core and the AS 65 to 68, and both require MAT 200 in Area D. You can take it at the Milledgeville campus or a satellite location in a mix of in-seat, online and remote courses, or fully online through GMC Online.

Master’s lists weigh graduate tuition (25%), research activity (25%), program reputation (30%), and master’s degrees awarded (20%). Applications go through the ASPPB PLUS system. Licenses expire December 31 of even-numbered years.
