Applying to the BS takes a 3.00 GPA on 60 hours and a psychology faculty sponsor, while the BA is open to anyone who meets College of Arts and Sciences requirements. Both degrees share Elements of Psychology, Career Exploration for Psychology, Understanding Statistics and a four-hour research methods course in experimental design. The BA then asks for three core courses and the BS for four, from Personality, Lifespan Development, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Industrial Organizational Psychology and, for the BS, Physiological Psychology. Fifteen hours of 3000 and 4000-level psychology follow, and BS students must include six hours of research credit. The department describes the BS as a way to strengthen an application to doctoral training.

Psychology BA
Four competency areas organize the 30 hours of psychology electives at Oklahoma State, and you take at least one course from each: Learning, Cognition and Biological Basis; Psychometrics, Personality and Social Processes; Developmental and Sociocultural Dimensions; and Clinical and Applied Psychology. Before those, the core is Succeeding in Psychology, Statistical Methods in Psychology and Experimental Psychology. Options reach from Black Psychology and Psychology of Humor to Forensic Psychology, Health Psychology and Affective Neuroscience, with Research Practicum, Teaching Practicum and honors or senior theses for students who want lab or classroom experience. The BA also requires an emphasis outside psychology and nine hours of foreign language.

Psychology BS
Nine hours from each of three thematic areas give UCO's psychology BS its breadth: cognitive, biological and behavioral psychology; social and personality psychology; and applied psychology. Each area needs at least one 3000-level and one 4000-level course, and the choices run from Sensation, Perception and Action and Memory Errors to Close Relationships, Psychology and Law and Human Factors. The 30-hour core includes Psychological Statistics, Research Methods Lab, Advanced Statistics with SPSS, Fundamentals of Neuroscience, Experimental Psychology and History and Systems of Psychology. Support courses add math, English and biology with a lab, and 12 elective hours finish the major. The Psychology Department also offers five master's programs and an education specialist degree.

Psychology PhD
Applicants to Oklahoma State's psychology doctorate apply directly to the clinical program or to one of four tracks in the experimental program: cognitive, comparative-neurobiology, developmental and social-personality. Experimental students are housed in one track and one laboratory but can work across tracks later. The clinical program trains scientific clinical psychologists, with practicum in a departmental training clinic and external sites, a required one-year APA-approved internship and a minimum of four years of full-time study on campus. Only full-time doctoral students are admitted, the MS is awarded as the first step of doctoral training, and the department aims to fund every student through teaching and research assistantships, fellowships and traineeships.

Psychology PhD
Oklahoma's Psychology PhD does not include clinical or counseling training. It is built around experimental research in four areas: cognitive psychology, applied social and developmental psychology, industrial-organizational psychology and quantitative psychology. Each student designs a course of study with a faculty committee, completes 90 hours of coursework beyond the bachelor's degree, passes general exams and defends a dissertation. A master's degree comes en route after 30 hours of coursework and a thesis. Cognitive psychology covers cognitive engineering and human factors, and the industrial-organizational program follows a scientist-practitioner model. The department also houses a separate PhD in Cellular and Behavioral Neurobiology.

Psychology AA
After the required General Psychology and Developmental Psychology, you choose two of four psychology courses in OCCC's associate degree: Behavioral Statistics, Personality Theories, Social Psychology or Abnormal Psychology. A third psychology elective can be any psychology course, so the major's 15 hours leave room to follow what your transfer school wants. The rest of the 61 hours is general education, including Introduction to Sociology and a lab science, a Success in College and Life course and eight hours of support courses drawn from fields like math, philosophy, communication and foreign languages. The program is designed for students planning to continue at a four-year college or university.

Psychology AA
Sociology and criminal justice courses share the program requirements with psychology in Redlands' 60-hour Associate in Arts. You take Elements of Psychology and Developmental Psychology, Introduction to Sociology and a second sociology course, then pick nine hours from a list that includes Organized Crime and Gangs, Understanding Violence and Victimization, Adolescent Psychology, Social Psychology and Crime and Delinquency. A 38-hour general education block and a one-hour College Success course complete the plan. Graduates can seek an entry-level job in a human services agency or continue at a four-year institution, and classes are available online and on campus.

Social Science AA, Psychology Plan of Study
Two years and 60 credit hours lead to an Associate of Arts in Social Science through Connors State's psychology plan of study. The plan starts with Introduction to Psychology, adds Psychology of Adjustment in the second semester, Introduction to Personality Theories and Introduction to Counseling in the third, and Developmental Psychology in the fourth, with Principles of Sociology as a social science option. English composition, American government, history, a lab science and humanities fill out the general education side, and six to nine elective hours leave room to match a four-year school's requirements. Most of those slots can also be filled with a guided elective, so check the degree plan in the catalog and work with a Student Success Coach before registering.

Psychology AA
Eighteen hours of electives chosen from a short list set Rose State's 61-hour Psychology Associate in Arts apart from a generic transfer degree. The list includes Introduction to Counseling, Social Psychology, Psychology of Abnormal Behavior, Psychology Statistics, Stress Management, Sex and Gender and a Psychology Internship. Required psychology courses are Psychology of Human Relationships, Introduction to Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Personality Theories, along with Introduction to Sociology, and you need a C or better in each to graduate. The program outcomes include applying basic research methods in psychology, which makes the statistics elective worth planning for if your transfer university requires it.

The Oklahoma State Board of Examiners of Psychologists licenses psychologists in Oklahoma. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in psychology does not by itself qualify you to practice as a psychologist.

The Oklahoma psychology board does not issue a separate master’s-level psychology credential. Master’s graduates who want to provide therapy usually pursue a counseling or marriage and family therapy license from a different board.
The Oklahoma psychology board does not license master’s-level practitioners. It approves Psychological Technicians who work under a licensed psychologist’s direct supervision but never practice independently, diagnose, do psychotherapy, or write reports, and this role does not count toward psychologist licensure. Oklahoma is a PSYPACT state.
Requirements summarized from the board’s official pages. Confirm the current rules with the board before you choose a graduate program.
